How JEE Main Scoring Works
JEE Main awards +4 marks for every correct answer and deducts −1 mark for every incorrect MCQ answer. Numerical value (non-MCQ) questions, where you type in a numeric answer, do not carry negative marking for wrong answers in the current pattern.
Raw Score = (Correct × 4) − (Incorrect MCQ × 1)
Why Percentile, Not Raw Score, Determines Rank
Like CAT, JEE Main is conducted across multiple sessions/shifts with different question sets. The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalization process to convert each candidate's raw score into a percentile relative to all candidates in their session, accounting for shift-to-shift difficulty variation, before calculating All India Rank.
Why This Is Only an Estimate
The exact percentile-to-score mapping changes every session based on that session's specific candidate performance distribution. This calculator's percentile bands are based on general historical trends and should be treated as a rough indicative guide, not an official percentile.
