How XAT Scoring Works

XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) awards +1 mark for each correct answer and deducts 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

Raw Score = Correct Answers − (0.25 × Incorrect Answers)

Note: XAT has historically also applied a small penalty for leaving too many questions unattempted beyond a certain threshold in some years — this calculator uses the standard correct/incorrect formula only and does not model that unattempted-question penalty, so treat the result as a simplified estimate.

Why Percentile Differs From Raw Score

Like other national MBA entrance exams, XAT converts raw scores to percentiles based on the full candidate pool's performance distribution for that year, which this calculator cannot replicate exactly — its percentile bands are indicative estimates based on general historical trends only.
