How Total Connected Load Is Calculated
Total Load (Watts) = Σ (Appliance Wattage × Quantity)
The result is then converted to kilowatts (÷1,000) and an approximate current draw is estimated using Amps = Watts ÷ Voltage (assuming standard 230V single-phase supply).
Why This Matters

Important Caveat: Diversity Factor
In practice, not all appliances run simultaneously at full load — electrical engineers apply a "diversity factor" (typically 0.5–0.8) to connected load to estimate realistic peak demand. This calculator shows the full theoretical connected load; for sizing a connection or generator, consider applying a diversity factor based on your actual usage patterns.
